The Shannon Navigation by Ruth Delany
Description
This book endeavours to tell the story of the Shannon Navigation from the mid-seventeenth century up to the present day. The story of the development of the river as a navigation makes it possible to form a picture of what the river was like, and to some extent what sort of conditions that people were living in. While the book covers some three hundred and seventy five years in the history of the river, this represents a very small period in its overall existence.
